Teeth Whitening | Education

How much does it cost?
The initial session is $250 & the optional touchup session is $150.

Will the bleach damage my teeth?
No. No study in the past 20 years has shown that peroxide-based gel causes any damage to the enamel of the teeth.

Will teeth whitening work for me?
Teeth whitening works for ALMOST everyone. However, there are certain enamel structure that just cannot whiten with extrinsic methods. Tetracycline staining & fluorosis are two conditions that cannot be whitened. Also, cosmetic veneers, crowns, & large areas of bonding won’t respond to bleach gel.
*PATIENTS WITH ONE OR TWO CROWNS OR VENEERS who have noticed that their natural teeth have become darker or dingier than the porcelain of their restorations SHOULD get their teeth bleached to restore them to a shade that more closely matches their cosmetic work!

Patients can expect to whiten between 4-8 shades during their initial session & another 2-4 shades during their touch-up session.

How long does the process take?
About 60 minutes for the first session. Touch-up sessions are approximately 45 minutes.

Should I have my teeth cleaned before bleaching them?
Honestly, it doesn’t matter. The bleaching gel whitens the tooth from within, so it’s not like areas with plaque & tartar will still be dingy once the process is over. BUT, it is advisable to brush thoroughly & floss before the appointment. A recent cleaning by a hygienist is not required.

Does it hurt before/during/after?
Nope! Some patients may experience slight sensitivity a few hours following their bleaching.

How often do I need to whiten?
Everyone is different. Without any staining agents, whitening can last 6-9 months, but some people prefer to whiten every month. We just advise waiting about 30 days between sessions.
